to market, to market

just a little reminder that this chickadee will be in bethesda this weekend for the artisan tent sale at gallery st. elmo. to complement the store's vintage furniture, the chickadee line-up for the day will mostly consist of items made from repurposed linens. be on the look out for placemat sets, coasters, pillowcase aprons and clothesline bowls!

and in one short week, team dan-dee will be setting up shop along a little strip in silver spring. the chickadee and the dandelion, together again. out in the (hopefully) sun and having fun at the hand made mart! the vendor line-up for this show looks great! and there will be music, plenty of food options nearby and workshops offered all day long at pyramid atlantic. the mart is conveniently located a short walk from the metro or next to a number of free parking garages.

nuts for hazel

friends recently added a beautiful baby girl to their family. here's the chickadee contribution to the welcome wagon:

the blankie is a blue sky alpacas pattern designed by kristen rengren. it is a series of slip stitches and color changes that knits up to a pretty, speckled, and soft fabric. the softness was thanks in part to knit picks comfy, a cozy cotton blend with just a touch of acrylic. to speed things up a bit, i went with the bulky version of the yarn, larger needles then called for, and an abbreviated stitch count.

but with a new embroidery enchantment, it didn't stop there. this little onesie was stitched up using some new skills (thanks jenny hart!), fabric stabilizer and an old aunt martha transfer pattern.

sign o' the times

the little shop of chickadee has been the recipient of much love from meaghan of oh ginger. this week it is occupying prime real estate on her blog, queering domesticity, where meaghan kindly highlighted the l.s.o'c. in the shop o' the week corner. she's also a lady who puts her paypal where her post is, and kicked things off in style by becoming the first chickadee online buyer. thank you again meaghan!

thanks also goes out to long time supporter and blog follower michelle of pardon my french, the first ever (and only) winner of the chickadee paper boat regatta. recently, she took some time out on her blog to say a few sweet things about this chickadee and to point people in the direction of etsy. merci beaucoup!

desperately seeking model

this chickadee recently filled another special request for that sweet paisley pincushion scalloped apron. (see previous posts here and here ) i am pretty fond of the fabrics used this time. too bad no one was around to model it before it was sent on its merry way. but you can get the picture (haha):

and while writing this it came to my attention that there was another apron who never got a blog mention. this one was made as a christmas prezzie for a friend:
