giveitaway giveitaway giveitaway now

you've seen the image over in the sidebar, now it is time to find out what all of the fuss is about! friend and patron saint of craft, oh ginger, is hosting a holiday giveaway that features some really fantastic and creative creators. click over to her blog for more details and while you are there, check out the list of featured crafters. consider buying your holiday gifts from people who put them together one stitch, one toggle, or one screenprint at a time. this chickadee is happy to be a part of the pack and has contributed a cute little craft apron to santa ginger's sack. just one little comment can win you this crafter's little helper:

and it is always the poor, tireless hostess who doesn't get a seat at her own table. have you seen what oh ginger has been up to lately? not only is she blogging and organizing this holly jolly giveaway, she's also crafting up a storm herself and preparing for several upcoming area shows. click on over to her shop too where you'll find all sorts of things both fancy and schmancy. here's a sample:

and grab your woolens and brave the first cold snap of the season to come on out to silver spring and support us this weekend. oh ginger also has a booth at the holiday shop and stroll. she's sharing with fellow contest contributor prettylittlefings. ohprettylittleginger is going to be filled to the splitting seams with cuteness and charm.

sign o' the times

the little shop of chickadee has been the recipient of much love from meaghan of oh ginger. this week it is occupying prime real estate on her blog, queering domesticity, where meaghan kindly highlighted the l.s.o'c. in the shop o' the week corner. she's also a lady who puts her paypal where her post is, and kicked things off in style by becoming the first chickadee online buyer. thank you again meaghan!

thanks also goes out to long time supporter and blog follower michelle of pardon my french, the first ever (and only) winner of the chickadee paper boat regatta. recently, she took some time out on her blog to say a few sweet things about this chickadee and to point people in the direction of etsy. merci beaucoup!

weekend wrap-up

phew! this week is flying right by. it is time to get ready for this chickadee's final craft show of the season and the craft fests from last weekend haven't even had a headline! so, without further ado, here's a peek at the previous shows:

dc craft mutiny holiday booty market
december 6th

because the show was cozy and comfortable, there was a little time for this chickadee to take a break from the station and do a bit of shopping. here are some treasures from other vendors at the show:

ornament from pile of craft

johnny depp tee from kristina bilonick

necklace from kitten rocks well
* also a vendor at the upcoming craft mutiny trunk show *

merry mart @ the creative alliance in baltimore
december 7th

there is but one more chance to catch this chickadee before she goes into craft show hibernation. this saturday, december 13th, at design within reach in georgetown. the dc craft mutiny is hosting a show there with 13 area vendors from 10am to 5pm. here's the who's who of the holiday trunk show:

hope to see you there!

hello! hello craft!

please join me in welcoming some new friends to the world wide web! the creative crew behind crafty bastards has come together and come up with a new home for handmade on the internet. the site is called hello craft! and has just launched with an aim to increase awareness about all things sewn, stitched, cut, pasted, knit, purled and everything in between. here's what they have say about their mission:

this chickadee is excited to be in on the big fun that hello craft! is bringing with it. my initial assignment is to write about craft in the international community. take a look at the first chickadee contribution here! along with articles, helpful links and how-to's, hello craft! is also publishing a podcast. there's someone that you just might know sitting in on the first broadcast and they are currently looking for more submissions and stories. learn more by visiting the website. and be on the lookout for the events and activities that the hello craft! team will be sponsoring in the future.

double feature

this chickadee is feeling the love from the crafty kids over at the washington city paper. clickity click the pic below to read all about the vintage table linen sets that will be making their east coast debut at crafty bastards on september 28th!

and a million thanks to the behind-the-scenes crafty crew. you are the craftiest bastards of them all! and you are the reason that crafty bastards is so amazingly awesome. the team is not only dedicated to putting on a good show, they are out to make sure that each vendor gets a chance to be seen and heard on the blog so that they can be successful. they can also be spotted all year round promoting craft and crafters in the local community. clap your hands, say thanks!

we took their show on the road!

the trip to seattle and the bumbershoot festival wasn't all play and no work. while we were out there, dandelion blu and i did a bit of shameless promotion for crafty bastards (which is coming up in a week and a half! gasp!) the lovely folks over at cut the craft, the official blog of crafty bastards, were pleased with our efforts and made us poster children for show promo! check out the article and our cheeky about town postcard placement by clicking on the picture below.

thanks to tina seamonster for the post. tina is a crafty bastards veteran and part of the team who makes the show a great success. she's the queen of all things gocco and likes not only seamonsters, but zombies too. look for her at crafty bastards september 28th or check out her etsy store.
