handmade mart is this sunday, may 22nd! same sunny silver spring location and some familiar faces. pretty little fings will be there with all sorts of new treats fresh from her making shed. she's been spending lots of time at the local farmers market and from the looks of things, all of that fresh produce has gone to her head...and her hands.

here's a sneak peek:

check out her new stuff at the show sunday! and stop by to see all of the other great vendors there too. looks like it is going to be a great gathering of some crafty and creative folks.

blown away

oh baltimore, jewel of the chesapeake, you never fail to charm and enchant the visitors who happen upon your cobblestone streets and bustling waterfronts. you rolled out your magical welcome to a group of enthusiastic crafters one sunny saturday afternoon. we set up our wares under blue skies dotted with fluffy white clouds...the smell of a nearby bakery was in the air...

there were high hopes, almost as high as the 50 mph winds that came ripping through our fragile tent city, smashing glass and ceramic, sending all things made of paper flying, and picking up weighted-down canopies like so many kites. most of us managed to make it though despite mother nature's best efforts to blow us away. special thanks to those who braved the gales to pay us a visit, shoppers and supporters alike.

please note: man passed out on park bench was not a display item,
but a casualty from the night before who needed a nap. a really long nap...

you might have bested us that day, baltimore, but we'll be back! (if only for the old bay fries)

cherry baby

hooray spring!

in other cheery news from the land of cherry blossoms, please clap hands together for rebecca! she won herself two tickets to the sugarloaf craft show this weekend (and she faced some pretty stiff competition). a crafter herself, she blogs about "politics, pop culture...and episodes of squirrel-induced rage" as mean louise. check it out!

enough about me...

...let's talk about what some of my crafty friends have been up to lately. you've already met the amazing gaggle of panguins that pang of pretty little fings put together. now let's see what that crafty gypsy who calls herself dandelion blu has gotten into.

the dandelion blu dungeon workshop is in full swing preparing for the american craft council show at the end of the month. quite an honor, and she certainly deserves it. take a look at some of the new pieces she is working on for the show. they are stunning!

check her out, along with some other amazing indie crafters, in the alt craft section of this year's acc show. and be sure to visit her blog to see what will come out of her studio next.

and oh ginger has a brand new webpage to share with everyone. she's synthesized her three other web log ventures (queering domesticity, heirloom tomato, and call me ashby) into one. now you are just one click away from the online home of everything meaghan:

above are some awesome new brooches that she's created. congrats to her on the new crafting and the dotcom! can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

snow day

this just in: this chickadee will miss the dc craft mutiny's holiday booty market scheduled to take place today. why? if you live in the dc metro area you know the answer to that question. if not, the answer is SNOW and lots of it. at last check the show is still on for those fortunate enough to be within walking distance. if you had your heart set on a stocking stuffer sewn with love, we are considering polar bear delivery service. but there are whispers that they are unreliable.

so far so good...

they are predicting anything from a lot to a little snowfall in the dc metro area this weekend. as of now, the show is on! and it looks like things will stay that way, even if mother nature decides to shake down some flakes. in the off chance that the booty market is canceled, you'll get an update here.

snow day!

here's a scene from the chickadee canopy snapped saturday morning at the holiday shop and stroll. the rain was a pain for set-up, but it quickly switched over to snow. lots of snow! big flakes of snow! which made the atmosphere festive for those brave shoppers who came out to support all of the awesome vendors.

many thanks to the shoppers and supporters, and to kim and debbie for their incredible craft show organizational skills. thanks to fellow vendors and friends moonlight bindery, pretty little fings, and oh ginger for hanging out and having fun. lots of love and appreciation goes out to mr. chickadee, who was there from set-up to clean-up.

and the mvp of the day award goes to john from fisticuffs. we couldn't have done it without him and his handy heater...which for some reason he didn't want and shared with us for the day. hopefully good crafty karma is already on its way. you can see him and his creative cuffs at squidfire's winter art mart in baltimore on saturday. this chickadee will be there too!
